History

McCorry’s core business is in the international trading of wood products with an international presence through offices around the world eg. USA, Mexico, Guyana, China, and Malaysia.

The first subsidiary of the Group, McCorry & Co. Limited was incorporated in 1995 and began its business operations in 1997. Since then, it has steadily expanded and has made a strong presence in South East Asia, North and South America. Annual revenue has grown from USD 6.5 million in 1997 to USD 37 million in 2006. The business is planned for expansion to achieve USD 100 million revenue by 2010.

The Group established its operational head office in 2003 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia where its corporate management team is based to oversee and provide support to the international offices in USA, Mexico, Guyana, China, and Malaysia.

The Group has developed a network of trade routes with reliable supplier base of 100 companies in South East Asia, China, Brazil, Guyana and Peru. The Group now serves a customer base of over 150 companies in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, Middle East and West Africa supplying hardwood and softwood products.

McCorry Timber Limited is incorporated 

2002 

McCorry Holdings Limited is incorporated and Corporate Restructuring is completed with McCorry Holdings Limited becoming the Group Holding company;

McCorry is FSC Certified

2003 

McCorry (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd status is approved by MIDA as Operational Headquarters (OHQ) for McCorry Group of Companies;

McCorry Mexico is incorporated

2004 

McCorry USA Corporation is incorporated

Group Turnover reaches USD50m

2005 

McCorry Group of Companies moves into its own offices in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

2006 

McCorry expands operations to Guyana

Management

The Management team, based at the Kota Kinabalu Operational Head Office consists of:

Jonas Israel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Jonas Israel has more than 16 years of experience in the timber industry. He started the McCorry Group in 1996. Prior to this, he was in charge of a Malaysian sawmill and moulding factory, working as Finance and Regional Director for a Dutch trading company.

Felicia Teng, Financial Controller

Felicia Teng responsible for the financial matters of the McCorry group of Companies. She is an accountant by training and has more than 15 years experience in the accounting and finance industry. She was as Accountant with Agri-Sabah Fertilizer Sdn Bhd before and trained as an auditor with the international auditing firms of Price Waterhouse Coopers and Ernst & Young. She graduated from Australia and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.   

Krishnan Srinivasan, Senior Manager – Treasury & Operations

Krishnan is an Accountant by training. He has more than 20 years experience in a variety of financial, operational and commercial roles. After graduating from the UK, his career began in Ernst & Young, working with a number of multi-national corporations both in UK and in Malaysia. He has an MBA from the University of Edinburgh and is also CIMA qualified. Prior to this, he held a variety of roles at NCR over more than 5 years.
